This is one of those places you don't want to review, because you're scared everyone will find out about it. The first time I went it was 50% gay night and 50% Suwanee reunion, which added up to a great time. The nautical vibes are just kitschy enough, and you can pretend their signature drink, the Rusty Knot, is just a green juice, not a dangerous blended mojito. Don't go there. It's not that great, I swear.
Come here early with a big happy hour group and you can seize the chairs and couches facing the Hudson River. I drank tasty, pre-made Moscow mules (spicy over sweet) all night. Their quesadilla was crisp and didn't turn cold right away. Not sure about the comment on the service -- on a Tuesday night, the bartender was busy, but attentive.
This is one of my favorite bars in the city! It’s a nautical themed dive bar, the drinks are cheap and great, the vibe is laid back but the crowd is cool as well. Set a little bit far from the rest of west village/meatpacking it feels like a little bohemian haven.
Honestly the random people you meet in the bathroom line make this place excellent. Bartenders are authentic & make expert cocktails. Can't say I'm ever disappointed but I tend to ALWAYS get drunk here somehow. Throws hands up in despair, oh well
Best local watering hole which reminds me of a grandfathers nautical themed basement bar but here in a modern building. Great pub grub and river/sunset views.
Loved this place.... best Sunday afternoon happy hour ever! Staff was awesome we enjoyed them photobombing our pics😂🤣😉
Came here for a company after party. A chill, cozy nautical themed bar with a great atmosphere.
100% tiki dive bar and thats perfect although I say lose the xmas lights sorta confuses the vibe lol. Fun drinks old school rock n roll cd jukebox
The tiki bar experience that you expect and want. Nice balance between kitschy and divey.
Bar with a cool nautical theme. The signature drink (self titled) is pretty good too!
This location is amazing. I was with my friends and we were looking for a place where we can get good drinks. We were near this place so we went there and the place is awesome. The design is really cool. The drinks are interesting and they have great price.
A fun location with drinks for days. Get that nautical vibe regardless of the season.
This classic tiki dive bar is located off the west side highway. Great spot to chill out during a night in the west village. Cheap beers (Tecate) amongst a full bar. Loungey for a dive with some comfortable seating and there’s a pool table and an eclectic juke box. Always a fun time
Fun eclectic place with one of a kind decorations!
Good drinks at this out of the way bar we found on a walk down West. Nice laid back atmosphere and the drinks are hearty. Definitely a place we will visit in the future.
The bar itself it okay, but they charged me an extra $26 on my credit card for a company happy hour outing. That was added by them on top of a 20% tip. They said they would resolve the issue, but it's been 3 months now.
A great place to make bad choices.
Excellent dive bar vibe with higher quality service, and decent snacks. Cocktails are great, but be wary of volcanos
Cute spot. Right across the river so it’s a cute date spot. They hit the tiki bar theme right on the nose. The drinks are yummy and the couches are comfy.
Yo rusty knot is the best and so heartwarming and kinda divey but in a fun charming way
The Rusty Knot is my new favorite drink!
Cool, busy place. Great Bartender! Good cocktails!
Loved it for it straight up dive barness. Recommend the dark ND stormy
Love this place! Such a great atmosphere. It is a tradition to finish the Pride at the Rusty Knot every year!
No tourists will ever be found here! That's because the Rusty Knot is Manhattan's West Village's best kept secret.Located all the way on West Side Highway, hugging the shores of the Hudson and the edge of the storied West Village neighborhood, the Rusty Knot is a mix of hole in the wall bar combined with West Village charm. There's ample room and a pool table that is located uncomfortably close to the bathroom so you'll have to dodge cue sticks before you use your cue stick. There's a good amount of seating and standing room, though this place can get super packed once a critical mass of early 20-somethings decide this is where they want to be tonight. There's drink, there's solid small bites, and the service is fantastic. This place has a gorgeous view of Hoboken, almost as if it longs for the city across the river in which it truly belongs. A+++ experience. I come back all the time.
Great drinks, and a nice view. Mac does a great job making things friendly.
Nice bar near Hudson river. Cocktails are ok.
This bar has a really nice island vibe. 80s hair metal played on the stereo. There are lots of good food and drink specials
Food and drinks were good and not too pricey. Went there yesterday night. Giving only 3 stars because the bouncer was incredibly rude. Terrible terrible attitude. This guy should be fired immediately.
Always cozy and the service is great
Great relaxed atmosphere. They do have a wide selection of beers. The drinks are fun and it's a great place to unwind with friends. There is a pool table. Love meeting up with friends here after work.
Friend took us to this bar on our layover to Portugal and it was honestly exactly what we needed. Cold AC and a great beverage! I can see why it's a favorite of the neighborhood and wish we could have gone again before our flight but alas we'll be back another time!
Cool spot. Has a tiki bar type of vibe to it. Can feel a bit commercial vs. warm and cozy but still kinda nice. The bartenders working there are really sweet and respectful. There is a pool table in there which is a nice plus. There are only two bathrooms in total tho, which is a real drag when you're 3 pints down and having to wait in line for 10minutes. x
This was a very small bar, but had huge character. There's a single pool table, a couple tables and a lounge area surrounded by all kinds of nautical themed objects around the room. It's worth a stop for a drink if you're in the area.
A neighborhood gem. I don't come here enough. The food menu is limited but solid for a quick, filling, comforting bite. Great music. If you can catch it on a night when it's not overrun with recent college-grad rowdies, it's a very charming and relaxing place to unwind. Come as you are!
Great bar, lovely ambience, very good service. Definitely recommend
I loved this place outside of the fact there was only one bar tender so sometimes taking a drink took forever. The vibe is wonderful though, and there's a good selection of drinks for a decent price especially for the neighborhood. I also liked the crowd of people that were there. Not too loud, music is a variety, love the drink glasses, it's great!
I like this bar, it is a cozy place with good drinks and friendly people.
Always a crowd favorite. I tend to go after work with friends and it always sets the mood. Always great drinks, good crowd and friendly staff.
Nautical-themed bar. Disgruntled bartender, but, in defense, is part of the charm, according to a friend.Since it faces the Hudson River, it catches the afternoon rays, so its bright and airy; not like a typical NYC dingy dive bar in a basement or something. Two restrooms. Pool table is available for 50 cents per game. If you're looking for a place to chill, this is good. No top shelf liquor if that's your thing.
Good people good crowd good experience
Never change, Rusty Knot! I keep coming back here each time I visit NYC, especially in the winter when the tropical drinks and kitschy interior are a welcome reprise from the cold. Pool table is downright terrible, but its cheap and adds a level of unpredictability. Jukebox is free, lots of 80's. Cocktails are strong, not cheap but not overly expensive, and the decor is part nautical, part dive. The bar food is actually pretty good, and it's worth ordering a few things.
Drinks are strong but food is weak. Soooo weak!
Charming dive bar on the west side. Sunday’s get packed around 4pm. Recommend their blended drink with mint, so good. Play pool, hang out, they have some classic bar food too. A must visit in NYC.
Good vibe, great view of the sunset
Pretty random dive bar in what appears to be a fairly new building on the Hudson. Fun nautical theme. Good beer and mixed drink selection. Pool table. 1 or 2 tvs. Not a huge place but it has a good vibe. NYC drink prices.
Kind of a fun place, but over crowded. Bathroom was a disaster
Cute tiki bar with great atmosphere. Great cocktailsb
Great vibe, solid drinks, free pool table.
Lovely little quirky bar. The decor makes it feel like you’re on a ship or in a bar in the Caribbean. I know some people say it can get very busy but we were there for the happy hour and had no problem finding a table for four. The piña coladas were great.
